Open-Source Biography

Get to Know Your Neighbors, Learn About Our Histories, Share Your Storiesopen mask
Free community workshop!
Open-Source Biography refers to the evolving story that we are all part of as a community, and contribute to every day.
The goal of Open-Source Biography is to generate compassion through sharing our histories.
The workshops will provide a safe space for people to share personal stories that expose our differences as well as our common ground. We will work with various tools to document and share our histories.  We will collage our individual biographies to generate a multi-media, evolving community archive: an Open-Source Biography. We will share our Open-Source Biography with the public in the form of an interactive installation in the Chapel of the W. Ferry/Richmond Church on Sunday, September 13th.
Over the course of the 8 workshops we will work with some of the following exercises, methods and mediums:
-Breath, Body and Mind awareness
-Writing and speaking
-Video self interviewing and partner-interviewing
-Mask/Costume playing with character dynamics
-Exchanging, sharing and overlapping personal details to observe how our specific stories inform and interact with one another. The first workshop on September 1st will be an introduction both to each other as expressive collaborators, and to the ideas that we will later explore in depth over the course of the following 7 workshops. It is highly recommended that participants attend this frst workshop. Before each workshop an all-levels yoga class will be held as a physical warm-up. The yoga class is recommended for workshop participants but not required.
Yoga classes, workshops and final public sharing will be held at the Richmond Ferry Church: 467 Richmond Ave Buffalo.
